Our commitment to your safety

  • Your number stays private in the app

Your phone number is private–and it should stay that way. We use technology to keep your number private, so drivers will not see your phone number if they need to call you through their app.

  • Visibility

Your healthcare organisation will have your driver’s information and will be notified when you’ve been picked up and dropped off and will be able to follow your journey.

  • All drivers are screened

Each and every driver using the Uber app is a fully licensed private hire driver, having been declared ‘fit and proper’ by their local licensing authority. This includes the same enhanced background check (DBS) as any other private hire driver.

Drivers must also submit their vehicle documents, including MOTs where applicable, and insurance that covers riders. All drivers must satisfy any additional assessment required by local licensing authorities.

  • Confidence in your driver

Along with background checks, everyone who drives on the Uber platform must ensure their car passes a series of industry standard checks. Every car must be compliant with the relevant licensing authority’s standards. Driver hour limits and in app speed alerts also help to ensure every trip is safe.

Tips for your ride

  • Be ready to go

If your ride has been scheduled, please be ready to meet your driver 5 minutes early at the agreed pick up location. If you’re redeeming your own ride, make sure you’re ready to go when you reply to the text.

  • Leave your route and payment to others

Your driver has your pick up and drop off locations, as well as GPS directions. You will not need to pay for an Uber trip, as this has been arranged by your healthcare organisation.

  • Give feedback and reviews

Please share thoughts about your ride with your healthcare organisation. If you accidentally leave an item behind in the vehicle, contact your healthcare organisation and they’ll work with Uber to track it down. You can also contact the dedicated phone line on +44 8081 890 933.

Can't find your driver?

  • Look around

The driver might be across the street.

  • Contact the driver

Call or text your driver to coordinate the pick up. You can find the driver’s number in your SMS. Your number will be anonymised so the driver won’t see it if you call them.

  • View trip details

If you have a smartphone, open the trip link in the text confirmation message to see in real-time where your driver is.

  • Don’t wait too long

If it’s been more than 5 minutes or if you get a text informing you that the driver cancelled, please contact your healthcare organisation to request another ride.
