Step 3: Plan your program launch

Set expectations with your coordinators so they know they’ll be using Uber Health to request rides for others, and how you want them to use it.

What to communicate to coordinators

Check your work email

Anyone you add as a coordinator will receive an email invitation to join your business account. They'll need to activate their account before they can start requesting rides for others.

Use your unique invite

Each invitation link is customized to an individual email address. Forwarding emails or sharing links with other people won't allow them to join the company account.

Create login credentials

Coordinators should create a new account with their work email address to use as their login credentials. If someone doesn’t have a cell phone number available to use, email support@health.uber.com and we’ll set up your account so phone numbers won’t be required.

Create a process

Establishing a process will help you more smoothly launch with Uber Health.

Rider eligibility & ride coordination

  • Rider eligibility and documentation
  • Who can schedule rides
  • What types of rides they’ll schedule

Communication

  • How coordinators should use the memo field
  • How to communicate details to the rider
  • Who should riders should reach out to with questions

Access controls

  • Who will have permission to add and remove coordinators

Set up plans and self booking

Give members direct access to book their own rides, while ensuring your organization retain control over budget limits and ride policies

Step 1

Create a plan

A plan sets the rules for how a group of members can use their ride benefit:

  • Total dollar or number of rides
  • Max fare, distance, or mileage per ride
  • Number of rides/spend per period
  • Allowed or restricted locations
  • Time of day or days of week
  • Vehicle types
Step 2

Add members

Members are riders with saved profiles in your Uber Health dashboard. Adding a member lets you pre-fill their info when requesting a ride, and apply the right plan to the right group. However, Members can be added without creating Plans as well. See more about adding members individually, via bulk upload or SFTP here.

Step 3

Enable self booking

Once a plan is enabled for self booking, every member on that plan receives a text invite to book rides directly from the Uber app — no coordinator required. Admins can resend invites for all riders from their member profile.

Step 4

Set expectations with riders

Please note that riders should confirm they are running the most recent version of the Uber app before attempting to accept an invitation. Riders will:

  • Click on the download the Uber app link from the SMS and create an account (if they don’t already have one).
  • Click on the invite access link from the SMS.
  • Accept a HIPAA authorization.
  • Enter their date of birth.
  • After verification, they can view their payment methods and health benefit information.
